I want to carry on with my last blog by giving you more background information on the coming Mid-East prophecy disaster that will confront the evangelical church if we continue to follow the path of those who call on us to "stand with Israel." On the surface this seems innocuous enough....Pray for the peace of Jerusalem!  Yes I'm ok with that.  Pray for the Jews? Yes, I'm ok with that. Since I am a Kingdom servant I see a great move of God's Spirit all over the world and that includes Israel and the Arab nations.

But "stand with Israel?", well here I have big problems.  I stand with South Africa when our Springboks play rugby against New Zealand or England (sorry but my fleshly nationalist spirit just rises up!)....but beyond that I am a citizen of heaven and an ambassador for the Lord residing here in South Africa called to bless all the residents of the land. I don't take sides based on nationality or race because the Lord does not do it.  And in your heart neither do you. The Lord is calling out a people for His glory from all nations, tongues and tribes...Jews and Arabs!

But here is the real problem coming that preachers and prophecy writers who call you to "stand with Israel" are not telling you....the real agenda of the "Greater Israel" vision being propagated by a coalition of evangelical church leaders, religious Jews and right wing extremists in both Israel and America.  And this is where you need to be careful about being manipulated into something you just cannot believe is of God!

The "Greater Israel" Vision

The current Israeli elections are being fought over the future of Israel. The secular Jewish community both in Israel and America believes in a two-state solution. A state for Israel and a state for Palestinians with borders to be negotiated. The Israeli right-wing and religious coalition with major support from the American evangelicals believe in a one state future whose borders are defined by what God promised to Abraham as being his inheritance and the inheritance of his seed. The secularists don't believe in God and expect a UN approved final approval for the two states that will ensure their legitimacy.  The religious community believe in a legitimacy that comes from a divine mandate.

The former Israel foreign minister Tzipi Livni who had retired from politics has come back to form a new party called Hatnuah to fight for a two-state solution against what she considers the dangerous vision of Prime Minister Netanyahu and his religious party supporters and their vision of a "greater Israel"  But what has this to do with the call to "stand with Israel"?

Well here is the problem: The land that the Lord promised Abraham in Genesis 15:18 says this, "On the same day the Lord made a covenant with Abraham saying, To your descendants I have given this land from the river of Egypt (the Nile) to the great river, The river Euphrates."  And this land grant was repeated by the Lord to Joshua (1:4)...from the Mediterranean to the Euphrates!   So I ask you this...are you willing to stand with evangelical Christian leaders in their vision of "greater Israel" that will require war on a massive scale, ethnic cleansing on a massive scale as basically Jordan, Syria, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Iraq are wiped out and the borders of Israel are extended to their Abrahamic mandate? And now add to that the destruction of the Dome of the Rock on the Temple Mount so that the Temple can be rebuilt and you have a recipe for Armageddon. Do you support this? Are you willing to "stand with Israel" as they claim what they think is their Godly inheritance and destroy the world's economy in the process?

Do you think this is far-fetched?  Let me assure you this is the belief of the evangelical leaders who are standing with Israel.  This prophetic vision of a future greater Israel was a best seller in 2008 with the publication of Bill Salus book "Isralestine: The Ancient Blueprints of the Future Middle East".  Bill Salus and other prophecy preachers have had major problem since 1991 when Russia ditched communism.  Russia is supposed to be Gog and Magog leading a coalition of nations to invade Israel for "great spoil". Well that is obviously not going to happen...what "great spoil" did poor Israel have that Russia could possibly want? So they came up with a solution: Psalm 83!  Israel must first win a major international war against the Arab nations and expand her borders to the Euphrates River and become a major wealthy oil power....then Russia will invade!

Can anyone believe this dangerous nonsense? Well judge for yourself.  Why do you think John Hagee and his coalition "Christians United for Israel" publicly called for a bombing campaign against Iran? What in the world are evangelical Christians doing calling for war and destruction? For "greater Israel"!  Why did America invade Iraq? It was in Afghanistan where the terrorists were. There were no weapons of mass destruction and Saddam Hussein had been a reliable ally in the region attacking Jihadi terrorists and jailing them. For oil? Far easier to get oil out of Iraq with a dictator like Saddam guarding the oil pipelines from sabotage. Then why did America attack Iraq?

George Bush is a born again believer who believed the Lord supernaturally elevated him to the Presidency.  And he also believed he must "stand with Israel" in a vision of "greater Israel" and the Lord will bless America for this.  And how do you think this has worked out for America? Any great blessings that you can see?  Are you wondering what is going on behind all this turmoil in Egypt, Syria, Iraq? George Bush is not alone. There are those in the American military establishment who believe in the divine calling of Israel.  Praise God that there are multitudes of wonderful evangelical Spirit-filled Christians in the American military...and they all sincerely believe they must "stand with Israel". But they are sincerely wrong...

But let me demonstrate to you from the Bible the tragic consequences when leaders and generals start a war that the Lord has not called them to start.  In my previous blog on " The Book of Life..." I introduced you to King Josiah a young man called of God and prophesied about 300 years before his birth. He started the biggest revival in Judah and cleansed the land of idols and turned the nation back to the Lord.  But he died defeated on the battlefield. How could this happen? Because he decided to attack Egypt when the Lord did not tell him he could. Sincere intentions can lead you into tragedy.

The Lord has not called the church to "stand with Israel" in pursuit of their foreign or domestic policies. Our job as ambassadors of Christ is to introduce Jews and Arabs to Jesus the Messiah and bring a ministry of healing and reconciliation, not stand with Israel in border disputes or Temple construction.  The seed of Abraham that is to bless the nations is Jesus Christ and His inheritance is the nations of the world and not a piece of real estate between the Nile and the Euphrates.

Joy Magazine Article : "Should Christians Support Israel?" (January 2013 edition)

When I wrote last weeks blog I had not seen this month's Joy magazine and its article "Should Christians Support Israel?".  For my South African readers I want you to buy the magazine now in the shops and I want you to do what the Berean Christians did in the book of Acts and search the scriptures to see if what is being presented to them is in the scripture.  I want to do that with you here because I have tried in the past to send letters to the editor which are never printed because I do not follow the accepted prophecy interpretation.  Regardless of what Joy magazine says about wanting to bring a "balanced" view discussing prophecy other viewpoints are never presented.

If you read through the short article the author presents three reasons for you to support Israel:
Reason 1- Israel is a special people, a chosen nation, a peculiar people which he uses Deuteronomy 7:6-8 to support. I quote,  "Pray for God's chosen nation."
Reason 2- Israel has an eternal purpose to bless the world due to the covenant with Abraham.
I quote, "The Lord's eternal purpose is to bless the world through Israel".
Reason 3- We owe a debt of gratitude to the Jews.  I quote, "The declaration that salvation is from the Jews suggests our immeasurable debt to Israel. All that we have has come to us through the Jews."
These three arguments are typical of all "support Israel" arguments starting with the Judaizers in Paul's day that were infecting the early church with the importance of racial DNA.

Here is Peter's response to Reason 1: (1 Peter 2:9)
"But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people that you should show forth the praises of him who has called you out of darkness into his wonderful light."  Peter says the church is God's chosen, holy nation. Joy magazine says the Jews are. Who are you going to believe?

Here is Paul's response to Reason 2:    (Gal. 3:8,)
"God preached before the gospel unto Abraham saying In thee shall all nations be blessed...that the blessing of Abraham might come on the gentiles through Jesus Christ"  So by whom will all the world be blessed, the Jews or Jesus Christ? The response to this usually is, yes but the Jews are seed of Abraham and therefore have an unconditional eternal covenant with God to the blessings of Abraham!
Paul's response to that would be:
"Know ye therefore that they which are of faith the same are the children of Abraham...so then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham" (Gal 3:7,9)
"For they are not all Israel which are of Israel neither because they are of the seed of Abraham are they all children...they which are the children of the flesh (the Jews) are not the children of God." (Rom. 9:6-8)  Cab you see what Paul is saying here...just because people call themselves "Israel" does not mean they are God's Israel and inheritors of Abraham's blessings! So which "Israel" are you standing with?
Here is my response to Reason 3:
I owe a debt of gratitude to my Lord Jesus Christ because all that I have is because of His sacrifice on the cross. I stand with the Israel of God, the holy people, the chosen nation, the royal priesthood, seed of Abraham by faith...the church of Jesus Christ, called to be a blessing to the nations of the world.

Which Israel do you stand with? A "greater Israel" that will precipitate a disastrous war if they expand their borders, or an expanding church that is called upon to bless all the nations of the earth...including Jews and Arabs!
